Dr. John Gondusky is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and former Navy Commander who specializes in hip and knee replacement, including anterior approach hip replacement, robotic-assisted surgery, and complex revision procedures. He brings advanced fellowship training and extensive experience in minimally invasive joint replacement to his role at the Jordan-Young Institute, where he has practiced since 2015.
Throughout his military career, Dr. Gondusky served with distinction, including deployments with the U.S. Marines and clinical leadership roles across the globe. He has been a dedicated educator and surgeon at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and currently serves the Hampton Roads community as a partner at the Jordan-Young Institute. His commitment to quality outcomes, surgical innovation, and patient-centered care has earned him recognition as a trusted leader in joint replacement. He has held leadership positions including Chair of Orthopedics at Sentara Leigh Hospital and Co-Director of the Outpatient Arthroplasty Program at Leigh Orthopedic Surgery Center.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Gondusky remains at the forefront of orthopedic research and education. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, lectured at national conferences, and continues to mentor residents and medical students at Uniformed Services University and Eastern Virginia Medical School. As an active fellow of the AAOS and AAHKS, he serves on national committees, contributes to clinical guidelines, and partners with industry leaders to advance surgical techniques and technology in hip and knee arthroplasty. Dr. Gondusky lives in Virginia Beach with his wife and two children, and enjoys spending time outdoors—especially skiing, surfing, traveling, and being with family.
