About Dr. Griffin

Dr. Justin Griffin is a fellowship-trained shoulder and sports medicine specialist based in Virginia Beach, serving the greater Hampton Roads region. He offers both surgical and non-surgical treatments with a focus on joint-preserving, minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques designed to accelerate recovery and optimize outcomes. He specializes in complex rotator cuff repairs, instability procedures, and performs both anatomic and reverse shoulder replacements for arthritis. Known for using advanced, evidence-based strategies, Dr. Griffin is one of only a few elected members of the prestigious American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES).

Dr. Griffin is a dedicated educator and researcher, having published over 100 articles, chapters, and presentations. His ongoing research includes biologic therapies, outcome measurement, and innovative treatments for overhead athletes and shoulder conditions. A graduate of Loyola University Chicago, he completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Virginia, where he was named Chief Resident and received numerous teaching honors. He completed advanced fellowship training in shoulder surgery and sports medicine at Rush University Medical Center, and has trained with experts at the Mayo Clinic.
